I have officially reached my snow quota for the next 5-10 years! When we got home from Indiana we arrived to 8 inches of snow. Last weekend we got another 2-3 inches, and then last night we recieved at least another 4-5 inches! When I got up to take the dogs out this morning i had to shove my front door open because there was so much snow up against it. Sammy took one look and tried to run back inside!!! There's something wrong when your pets won't even think about going outside. I forced him out and the poor guy was completely buried in snow!!...haha
Oh, and I don't wanna hear anymore from Indiana people how warm it is there!!!...:(

Christmas Vacation
We went to Indiana last week and got to see all of our family and friends. We had a great time, but it went too fast as usual. We had our engagement pictures taken and here are a few of them...

We got some wedding stuff done too. All we have left to get done soon in booking a dj.
When we got home we picked up the dogs from the kennel and apparently they picked up some sort of bug because its been a crapfest at our house for the last few days!! Thankfully they are starting to do better now.
We had Christmas Eve at Chuck's parents house with his family. We had a good time. We had dinner then opened gifts and then went to church.
Christmas Day we went back to his parents house for another meal (I've had many over the last week) and we visited and played a game called 99 (lots of fun). Chuck and I then went to see the movie Marley and Me. It was very funny but let me tell you I have never cried so much during a movie as I did at this one. I think it must be because I have dogs so you put yourself in the shoes of the characters. I recommend the movie but be prepared to shed some tears if you go see it!

When is the worst time to get sick?
Right before the holidays I come down with what I thought was a sinus infection but now I'm not so sure. I'm leaning more towards the ever popular common cold. I'm trying everything to kick this before Thanksgiving but it's not leaving easily. I bought a humidifier (which helps somewhat), and about 25 dollars worth of cold medicine. Has anyone ever taken Zicam? That's what I bought and am trying right now...along with Coldeze and saline nasal spray for my dry nose that wants to keep bleeding. Sounds lovely doesn't it!?

Engaged!
Chuck and I are now officially engaged! Here is the pic of the ring from the webpage because every picture I try to take of it on my finger doesn't turn out very well.

I have an appt in Bloomington on December 19th to pick a definite date. It will either be in September or October, depending on what dates are available.
We went out to dinner last night after he gave me the ring and his mom came in to take a couple of pictures. I was worried that Chuck's parents would be upset that the wedding will be in Indiana but they understood and are excited for us! His mom suggested we start making a list soon of people we think of to invite. I have a feeling it's going to be bigger than what we were thinking. My question is how do you make sure you don't forget someone?..haha Maybe everytime we think of someone we should just write it down and hope that we remember everyone that we would want to be there.

Last two weekends.
Weekend before last Chuck and I and his older brother Jim went to Minneapolis to a Colts/Vikings game. First we stopped at the Mall of America. Here are a couple pics of the amusement park inside of the mall....

Here are some pics of Chuck and his brother before the game at the bar on the way......

And finally here are pictures from the actual game.....

Here are a few that I tried to get of Tony Dungy but he was walking pretty fast and my camera doesn't focus on moving objects very well...

And finally, here is Chuck on the way home listening to my Ipod and dancing to Mambo #5..haha

We were planning on taking pictures of all of us at half time but I was mad from getting heckled from the vikings fans for wearing a Colts jersey that I didn't feel like taking any pictures of myself!
This past weekend we didn't do a whole lot. I'm sick with a sinus infection so I have been sleeping a lot and trying to breathe. We did go fishing Sunday on the Missouri River and that kind of turned out to be a bad idea. It got really windy and so on our way back we had really big waves to fight thru. We had to put life jackets on and we were all soaked from the waves comes in to the boat. The other girl out there with us mentioned that none of us were very smart for not letting anyone know that we were out there in case something did happen. Needless to say I think we will avoid the river for awhile!!

I started my new job a couple weeks ago. I don't remember if I blogged about it yet or not and I'm too lazy to go back and check..haha I really like this job. Everyone is very nice and helpful. I'm working in an OB/Gyn office and the hours are great!!
We also started on a bowling league this week. I didn't want to do it because I'm not very good at bowling. It's fun when you are just doing it for fun....but I was worried because it's a team and I didn't want to make them lose. I actually did really well and it was fun!
Everything else is good here. Not sure what we are doing this weekend yet. Maybe fishing once more while its still slightly warm since I'm sure a blizzard is right around the corner here....:(

Bad boy...Good girl
So Sammy has this problem of getting so mad when I leave that he knocks over the trash can in anger. Chuck and Sammy have had many "conversations" about this particular problem. Luckily the other night when Sammy did this, I had just changed the trash bag so it wasn't a mess but here are pics of Chuck disciplining him by sticking his head in the trash. (I'm still not sure what he was hoping to accomplish by doing this).

Then there's Baylie who can do no wrong in Chuck's eyes......

Happy Birthday to me....too bad I have to go work :(
So my trip was a ton of fun. I got to see almost everyone I thought I would and of course it went all too fast. I was very sad to go and still bummed out but looking forward to christmas now!! Wednesday Emily picked me up at the airport and then we headed down to Bloomington for dinner with my mom and Chris. Then we headed up to the club house for a few hours.

Thursday Emily and I headed up to Indianapolis to pick up her boyfriend and then we all went out to dinner with Dennis. It was a low key night considering we were still recovering from the night before.
Then Friday I went to Mooresville to visit my friend Desirae and her two kids...adorable!! Then I went to Greenwood to have lunch with my aunt Peggy, Jeff, and Amy. We then went on a search to find me a Colts jersey because I'm going to a game in a few weeks. Shopping with my uncle is a blast let me tell you!! Emily and I then went to TGI Friday's to have dinner with our grandparents and dad. Lots of good food!! After dinner we headed back down to bloomington.

We met up with friends from the Pointe and my friend Kacie that I used to work with and had lots of fun...maybe a little too much fun!!

Saturday morning Emily, Chris, and I had breakfast with my mom up at the clubhouse. It was about a 2 hours breakfast too!!

After breakfast I hung out with my mom and then headed over to Robert and Stacy's for some pool time and cooking out. We had a lot of fun and stayed up late drinking and talking and playing with the dogs.

Sunday morning we got up and went over to the pool for awhile then I left to go have dinner with Peggy, Jeff, Mom, Emily, Chris, Amy, and Grandad at Pizza King. Then we went back to Peggy's house to have birthday cake..mmmmmm I went back down to Bloomington and spent the night with Liz and then she took me up to the airport on Monday morning.
It was a great trip.....was very tired when I got home. This is what happened as soon as I laid down that evening...

Weekend Fun
It was actually a good weekend...NO WORK!! We took the dogs to Petsmart friday afternoon to get their nails cut. Then Saturday night we went to Chuck's company cookout. Sunday we went fishing with his parents. Here are some pictures. The first is Chuck with a very large northern pike and a very pretty hat. The second is a pic of some of the fish we caught in the live well.
This is the fish I caught but was not going to touch!! There were a few more but I cant figure out a way to get the pictures on here the way I want them.Thursday, July 24, 2008
Kohl's here I come
I haven't blogged in awhile cause there's not much new going on. I've been working ridiculous amounts of days. I finally get the next four days off but they conveniently are making me take a CPR class tomorrow on my first day off. Of course it can't be in the morning, no it has to be at 3pm so my day is completely interupted. (Emily, I'm at work right now and scary big eye lady is yelling help again. i'm sooo not going back in there!!)
We are going to a cook out saturday. I really want to go fishing on sunday. I haven't gotten to go since the day I caught the catfish. Oh, but this is big news.....going shopping on Monday. I haven't went shopping since I have been here. (Emily, now she's in the nursing station with us...and still saying help me..hahaha Very good idea to bring her in here cause now she's less bored. Now she's readying Cosmo!!)
I'm very excited for Indiana. Just a few more days!! Can't wait to see everyone!

It's rough being a fat girl!
We went to a co-ed softball tournament yesterday. I call it more of a drunk fest than anything. If you landed on second, you did a shot. If you looked out in the outfield, all the players were holding beer cans. I'm pretty sure, other than the kids there, that I was probably the only one not drunk!!
I took my dogs with me since it was at the park right up the road. I kept getting compliments on how good my dogs were acting. Usually mine are the ones (well Sammy at least) misbehaving. There were at least 4 other dogs there too. There was another beagle who howled at everything...but not mine. She just stared at him like he was nuts!! Even Sammy was on his best behavior. I think since being kenneled he is scared to act up, thinking the kennel was a punishment for something. At one point he did get excited when he saw a big black lab (he likes big dogs) and took off after him. I was totally unprepared, holding both leashes and a beer in my hand. Needless to say the beer went flying and Baylie was right there to drink it up.
They both are still exhausted from the day. I finally had to wake Baylie up at 12:30 today!! You have to understand that with Baylie, her average day consists of sleeping, sleeping, and a little more sleeping. This is why she's 5-7 pounds overweight. I know she needs to get out more but I'm thinking she's going to be the most prepared out of all of us for this first North Dakota winter. Maybe she's not so dumb after all...........

Happy Birthday
Today would be my grandma's birthday. I didn't realize it until I saw the date. I've been thinking about her a lot lately. I think it's working in the hospital and seeing patient's who are older than she would be now, and how they are relatively healthy still. It makes me wonder why things happen the way they do. I do know she's at least in a better place now...:)

Cough, cough
I think Baylie might have gotten sick from the kennel. They both got their bordatella vaccine two days before I took them, but it's recommended that they get it at least 72 hours before. The Kennel didn't seem concerned that it was only 48 hours though. So anyways, she gets home and starts coughing a lot. She still acts normal, she just has this non-productive cough that he gets like once an hour. I looked online and it fits the kennel cough description. Now I'm annoyed with this new vet for other reasons having to do with Sammy, but now they didn't tell me that they would still be susceptible to kennel cough. I looked it up online and it's like a cold for humans but she will have this for at least 7-10 days and it's highly contagious so odds are Sammy will get it too. It's spread thru the air like a cold. I knew I had a bad feeling about kenneling for a reason. It was Sammy I was concerned about and now Baylie is the one getting sick!!..:(

The weekend

So we all survived the weekend! We left saturday morning and dropped the dogs off at the kennel. It was very nice looking and had a ton of dogs so I took that as a good sign. Sammy tried to escape the cage when we left and cried a little but I like to think he stopped once I was gone.

We went fishing on the Missouri River. It was a great day and got lots of sun....a little too much actually! I caught my first fish..a cat fish! Then Chuck goes and catched a 21 pound fish, which made mine look like a little guppy.
After about six hours on the river we headed to our camp ground to cook out. As soon as we got there Chuck found a tick crawling on him so that put a damper on my time for a few hours. I hate ticks! They are disgusting little blood suckers. We drank a little then just went to bed. I think everyone was pretty tired after a whole day out in the sun.

Today we were going to go fishing again with everyone else but we were just ready to go home. I was just counting down the hours to go pick up Sammy and Baylie. We got there and I was suprised that they were still clean and all of their stuff was pee-free! They could barely keep their eyes open all the way home and then both must have not pooped at all while they were there because they let loose once they got home. We have been back now for almost five hours and they have been sleeping ever since. I'm guessing they didn't get much sleep over all of the barking dogs around them. They won't even wake up to beg for pizza! Now that's tired!!!

Random Stuff
So i'm four days in to my new job. I have to say it's getting better. I'm still worried that I'll never learn all of it. Here's my newest question though. Being that doctors are supposed to save lives, why do they write like crap and expect you to be able to decifer what the hell they are ordering for their patients?? Shouldn't doctors write clearly and legibly in order to make sure everyone can read what they want? Anyways, it's so busy on my unit that the days pretty much fly by. Hopefully that keeps up!!
Well it was a rainy, windy holiday weekend here. I swear this is the windiest state! I had to work sat and sun so I had tons of errands to run yesterday. I finally got chuck to remove all of the empty boxes that have been sitting in the living room for 3 weeks now! My picture is still not hung over the couch but baby steps right?!
I think we are going camping saturday night. I honestly hope for nice weather just for once when i camp. This could contribute to why i hate it so much. For his sake he better pray for warm, dry weather and it will make it a more pleasant trip for him. So far the weather says 78 for the high, but rain rain rain!! The one more traumatized by this trip is going to be Sammy. He and Baylie are going to have to be kenneled for the first time ever. I am going to go check this place out first because I want to know what it looks like and make sure it's clean.....is that wierd to go check out a kennel before you leave your kids there?..cause they are kids, not dogs. I'm going to leave them in the same kennel but here's my fear....sammy is spoiled and scares easily and has attachment issues....BIG attachment issues. Plus, the last times I caged him he used to crap all over himself from stress. God only knows what kind of condition they will be in the next day. I don't know if I could do it to him for the first time for any longer than one day.

I think I got one!
We went fishing yesterday afternoon. I hadn't been fishing since I was little and back then it was out of a pond and not for anything big. So there were five of us in the boat and it was pretty cold and I was starting to get bored just sitting there freezing holding on to a pole (which was illegal for me to be doing anyway I guess since you need a fishing license). So after a few hours of silently hoping they would say we were leaving, something started grabbing at my pole. I just yelled out I think i might have something and they started laughing because it was pretty obvious that I did have something considering that my pole was bent. So I start pulling on this fish and trying to reel it in. Let me tell you it's stressful cause those fish are pretty freakin strong! They are all telling me how to reel this in and the net is ready to pull it out and the stupid thing bites through the line!!! Honestly I was slightly relieved considering how much work that was. Fishy was putting up a hell of a fight! So now i'm not so cold anymore and am excited because I almost got my first fish and they all kept saying it would have been a big one. Now i'm feeling like a pro because i think i understand now how to get one out of the water. So I wait and wait and wait and then, 30 mins later, it happens again. This time I feel more prepared and I'm pulling Nemo (that was my name for them all) out of the water and I actually saw the fish this time and it was BIG! Then it bit my line again and swam away. This was fine though because apparently it wasn't anything I did, i guess they have sharp teeth. It was a northern pike and it was pretty. I wouldn't have kept it anyway that's too sad but I really wanted my picture taken with it so then I could have posted it on here as proof that I might be decent at atleast one sport. oh well, there's always next time and i'm ready to go again! I think I need my own pole. maybe pink and glittery!!!..:)
