It's rough being a fat girl!

We went to a co-ed softball tournament yesterday. I call it more of a drunk fest than anything. If you landed on second, you did a shot. If you looked out in the outfield, all the players were holding beer cans. I'm pretty sure, other than the kids there, that I was probably the only one not drunk!!

I took my dogs with me since it was at the park right up the road. I kept getting compliments on how good my dogs were acting. Usually mine are the ones (well Sammy at least) misbehaving. There were at least 4 other dogs there too. There was another beagle who howled at everything...but not mine. She just stared at him like he was nuts!! Even Sammy was on his best behavior. I think since being kenneled he is scared to act up, thinking the kennel was a punishment for something. At one point he did get excited when he saw a big black lab (he likes big dogs) and took off after him. I was totally unprepared, holding both leashes and a beer in my hand. Needless to say the beer went flying and Baylie was right there to drink it up.

They both are still exhausted from the day. I finally had to wake Baylie up at 12:30 today!! You have to understand that with Baylie, her average day consists of sleeping, sleeping, and a little more sleeping. This is why she's 5-7 pounds overweight. I know she needs to get out more but I'm thinking she's going to be the most prepared out of all of us for this first North Dakota winter. Maybe she's not so dumb after all...........

Happy Birthday

Today would be my grandma's birthday. I didn't realize it until I saw the date. I've been thinking about her a lot lately. I think it's working in the hospital and seeing patient's who are older than she would be now, and how they are relatively healthy still. It makes me wonder why things happen the way they do. I do know she's at least in a better place now...:)

Cough, cough

I think Baylie might have gotten sick from the kennel. They both got their bordatella vaccine two days before I took them, but it's recommended that they get it at least 72 hours before. The Kennel didn't seem concerned that it was only 48 hours though. So anyways, she gets home and starts coughing a lot. She still acts normal, she just has this non-productive cough that he gets like once an hour. I looked online and it fits the kennel cough description. Now I'm annoyed with this new vet for other reasons having to do with Sammy, but now they didn't tell me that they would still be susceptible to kennel cough. I looked it up online and it's like a cold for humans but she will have this for at least 7-10 days and it's highly contagious so odds are Sammy will get it too. It's spread thru the air like a cold. I knew I had a bad feeling about kenneling for a reason. It was Sammy I was concerned about and now Baylie is the one getting sick!!..:(

The weekend

So we all survived the weekend! We left saturday morning and dropped the dogs off at the kennel. It was very nice looking and had a ton of dogs so I took that as a good sign. Sammy tried to escape the cage when we left and cried a little but I like to think he stopped once I was gone.

We went fishing on the Missouri River. It was a great day and got lots of sun....a little too much actually! I caught my first fish..a cat fish! Then Chuck goes and catched a 21 pound fish, which made mine look like a little guppy.

After about six hours on the river we headed to our camp ground to cook out. As soon as we got there Chuck found a tick crawling on him so that put a damper on my time for a few hours. I hate ticks! They are disgusting little blood suckers. We drank a little then just went to bed. I think everyone was pretty tired after a whole day out in the sun.

Today we were going to go fishing again with everyone else but we were just ready to go home. I was just counting down the hours to go pick up Sammy and Baylie. We got there and I was suprised that they were still clean and all of their stuff was pee-free! They could barely keep their eyes open all the way home and then both must have not pooped at all while they were there because they let loose once they got home. We have been back now for almost five hours and they have been sleeping ever since. I'm guessing they didn't get much sleep over all of the barking dogs around them. They won't even wake up to beg for pizza! Now that's tired!!!
